Introduction
This week we’re partnering with the Microsoft Fabric Community team to bring you a set of challenges that are taking place over the next month as a part of Fabric Data Days.
Each week, they post a new mini-challenge, aimed at anyone looking to practice dataviz skills, explore new visuals, and engage with the Fabric community – all without committing to a full report.
Check out the week 1 challenge, which closes on Thursday the 13th! Week 2 opens on Friday, so don’t worry if you miss it! All QuickViz challenges can be found on the Fabric Community site.
The premise of the challenges is simple – build a single visual, post it to the community, and then take some time to vote on the others that you like. Entries with the highest number of votes win!
Here’s a sampling of some of the entries!
Requirements
- Use the data from the sample report or import your own!
- Build a bar chart!
- Upload your .pbix to the community.
- Watch the votes come pouring in!
Dataset
Data for this challenge is open. You can use your own, or download the sample file from: Raise the bar | Sample file – Microsoft Fabric Community
I simply used the enter data feature in Power Query and added a tiny dataset. Use whatever you want – this is meant to be fun!
Share
After you finish your workout, share on Bluesky or LinkedIn using the hashtags #WOW2025 and #PowerBI, and tag @MMarie, @shan_gsd, @KerryKolosko (on BlueSky).
