Introduction
I’m so excited to be back for another WOW challenge! Fresh off the heels of Tableau Conference, I’m back in dashboard mode. This week I was faced with an interesting use case that I needed to accomplished and after I did, I knew it would make a great challenge. So here we go!
So for the longest time in Tableau we’ve always had “the pancake table” for drilling details. You know the pancake table, right? You know that table that you put at the bottom of your dashboard, then create a series of dashboard actions to make it appear on a filter action and then upon clearing the action, the table squashes back down – thus the pancake table!
Well, Tableau has advanced since those early days and now we have DZV…dynamic zone visibility which is changing the game from a design standpoint. But how do we marry the filter action AND the drill down with DZV?

Requirements

- 4 sheet
- Monthly Trend of Sales
- Sales by Subcategory
- Treemap of sales by Segment & Ship Mode
- Order Details with:
- Order ID
- Customer Name
- Order Date
- Ship Date
- Product
- Sales
- Profit
- Profit Ratio
- In the header add a filter breadcrumb
- Clicking on any mark in the dashboard filters the dashboard
- Each tooltip has a menu action to drill to details
- Clicking the menu action will open the details along with any previous applied filters in scope
