Introduction
Ever since I found out that Week 52’s challenge would be posted on December 25, I’ve been brainstorming ideas related to Christmas.
While tackling Week 50’s Christmas tree challenge (as a personal challenge) and trying to solve it on a single sheet, I found myself wrestling with the concepts of “stems” and “leaves,” which reminded me of the stem-and-leaf plot.
This chart type isn’t often seen outside of statistics classes in Japan, but upon revisiting it, I realized it has unique advantages that histograms don’t offer.
As the final challenge of the year, I hope you can enjoy this one with a relaxed mindset!
Requirements
- Dashboard size 1000*800
- Number of sheets: Free
- Filter the order date to include only 2023 and 2024
- Create a stem-and-leaf plot for the order quantity by customer
- Display the 2023 leaves on the left side of the stem and the 2024 leaves on the right side
- Show filters for [Ship Mode], [Category], and [Sub-Category]
- Colors: Free (I used green(#A0CA5A) for 2023 and red(#DF5464) for 2024)
- Tooltips, fonts, and other formatting: Free.
- Anything not specified in the requirements: Completely free (It’s Christmas, so feel free to take a relaxed approach!).
#Bonus
- Number of sheets: 1
#What’s a Stem and Leaf Plot?
A stem-and-leaf plot is a simple and effective way to organize and visualize numerical data. It helps show the distribution and patterns of data in an easy-to-read format while preserving the original data values.
Stem: Represents the leading digit(s) of the data.
Leaf: Represents the trailing digit(s) of the data.
For example, if you have the number 43, the stem would be 4, and the leaf would be 3. If your data includes the numbers 21, 23, 25, the stem would be 2, and the leaves would be 1, 3, 5.
Dataset
This week uses sample superstore dataset .You can get a copy of them here.
