2024 Week 25 | Power BI: Time Brush Slicer

Introduction

This week’s challenge looks to create a time brush slicer.

The time brush slicer can be created with Deneb or another custom visual.

Requirements

  1. Obtain the data from a previous challenge
  2. Model data
  3. Option A
    1. Import Timbrush Slicer and Small Multiple Custom Visual
    2. Create a time brush slicer
    3. Create a line chart with small multiples by borough
  4. Option B
    1. Import Deneb Custom Visual
    2. Create bar chart with height of 60
    3. Count of Sightings along Y, and Time along X
    4. Format the axes to the time interval you wish (e.g. yearmonth)
    5. Concatenate a trellis line chart with borough encoded as columns
    6. Utilise parameters to create a brush slicer on the bar chart that filters the trellis line chart data
    7. Set default values for the brush slicer so that it is visible on first load.

EXTRA CREDIT : Set the line values to aggregate dynamically to week, month, year based on timebrush range
