Introduction
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year folks!
The last dataviz challenge for 2024 and we will be creating a Christmas Family Feud game with the new Text Filters in preview – don’t forget to ensure these are enabled before participating in the challenge.
Utilize as many filters as you like and prepare some conditional formatting on a list visual of your choice to set the survey answers invisible until selection.
Have fun with this one and go nuts with design (perhaps a touch of HTML and SVG animations) to make this appear like a swanky gameboard!!
Requirements
- Obtain the data from this Reddit post. Attribute the author. https://www.reddit.com/r/SampleSize/comments/zszcju/christmas_family_feud_results/
- Data has been grouped, to see the groupings click in the aggregate cells. Create a lookup for the original guesses and the grouped categories. Alternatively, use a preworked sample in this github :
- Model Data so that at least three filters will slice independently. Hint: (disconnected tables are an option)
- Create a column ranking the highest category value to the lowest.
- Place the survey answer fields in the corresponding field wells of the text slicer visuals. Name each slicer as Guess 1, Guess 2 etc.
- Create a visual containing the list of grouped categories for the gameboard.
- Format the visual so that the rank is visible and the categories are visible only when the corresponding survey answer is filtered.
- Have fun
